Teletherapy
Online Therapy Services
In my commitment to making high-quality speech and language therapy services accessible to children in our community and across the State of New York, I am excited to offer therapy online.
Whether you are social distancing, outside of the in-person service area, or you value the convenience of online therapy, teletherapy may be an excellent option to meet your family's needs.
All online services are provided via a secure, HIPAA compliant, platform. Just as with in-person therapy, every teletherapy session is carefully planned to be interactive and motivating for your child. By ensuring my approach is personalized to the age and goals of each child, my clients are able to continue making progress on their goals in meaningful and fun ways.
Speech and Language with Jane provides speech and language teletherapy services for children and families located anywhere in the State of New York.

-
How exactly does telepractice work?Services look different for each child and family and are dependent on the age of the child, their goals, and what is being targeted during the session. Teletherapy activities will be fun and interactive to ensure that your child is engaged and learning. For older children who are confident in navigating technology independently, parents can set-up their child with a tablet or computer and I will do the rest. For younger children, parents/caregivers may need to be present or nearby during the sessions to help facilitate the use of technology.
-
Can we use a computer, tablet, or phone for teletherapy?"All teletherapy sessions are provided through a HIPAA compliant and secure platform. Clients can access the platform from a computer or tablet with a web-based browser that has a built in-microphone or with headphones that have a microphone.

What about adding to the amount of screen time my child is already getting?Teletherapy services are different from the idle or stationary screentime experienced when a child is watching TV or YouTube. Each online therapy session is interactive and socially engaging, providing for an educational experience and higher quality screentime than typical TV or tablet use.

If we begin with teletherapy, can we move to in-person sessions when it is safe to do so?"At this time I offer in-person therapy to families in Brooklyn on a case-by-case basis. Families living outside of Brooklyn can receive services via teletherapy and will be notified if/when I am able to expand my in-person service area. If you are located in Brooklyn and would like to switch between in-person and teletherapy, I will work with you to accommodate your preferences as it is possible.

Is teletherapy as effective as in-person therapy?Teletherapy can be equally as effective as in-person therapy for many children. A recent study involving school-aged children demonstrated the children receiving online therapy made similar progress on goals as compared to children receiving in-person therapy. Review the study here. I use the same evidence-based therapy approaches online as I do in-person. Each session is also specifically planned for your child to ensure they are engaged in learning and making progress on their goals.
